A moderate scentless soap, such as Soak wash, is a wonderful choice because it's gentle and environmentally friendly, but standard dish soap will suffice. Rinse your stitched piece under cool running water before continuing. Soak the piece in soapy water for 15 minutes or up to an hour. Swish it around every now and again.
