Science Facts!

Postby MarvellQueen » Tue Feb 23, 2016 4:58 am

HELLO!
Well I have seen so many science lovers ..... hope there are some here too!
All those who are interested may post here some science facts..... at least those who don't know will get to know..... It is not compulsory for the information to be accurate but it is appreciable to share it!

So I go first

You must have heard about some light years ..... propagation..... etc. etc.
Well if something goes with the speed of light, actually more than that then it is believed that time travel is possible

Interesting know :P ;)

Did you know it is thought that there are between 3-30 milions of animal species (mostly microscopic) in our planet and only 1.5 milions of them have been discovered? In 2006,17.000 species of animals and plants where discovered, which only represents a 1%?

Or that birds (yeah, "normal" ones, like pidgeons),according to evolution, are related to dinosaurs? They evolved from the same ancestor; due to adaptation, that ancestor evolved either to Raptors (like the ones from Jurassic Park) or to birds.

Birds and raptors are on the top right: you can see their ancestor was called "Maniraptora"

Did you know...
The human brain (when awake) produces enough electricity to power a 40 watt light bulb for 24 hours.

Whenever you sneeze some of your brain cells die.
I'm going to be a Cardiology student so I'm gonna post some facts relating with HEART
1. If you wanna know the size of your heart, hold your hand and make a fist. If you're a kid your heart is about the same size of your fist and if you're an adult it's about the same size as two fists.

2.In an average lifetime, a normal human heart will beat more than 2.5 Billion times.

3.Because the heart has it's own electrical impulse, it can continue to beat even when separated from the body,as long as it has an adequate supply of Oxygen.

4.The heart of an average man beats approximately 70 times a minute, whereas the average woman has a rate of 78 beats per minute.GIRL POWER!

5.Heart pumps about one million barrels of blood during an average lifetime- enough to fill more than 3 super tanks.
